Have you been following Tina Fey’s show, ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’? It’s been hailed as both progressive but also offensive at times. When Tina was asked about the strong reactions to her show, her response was, well, forthright. Kinda.
Tina joked “Steer clear of the internet and you’ll live forever.” Then she added:
We did an ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ episode and the internet was in a whirlwind, calling it ‘racist’, but my new goal is not to explain jokes. I feel like we put so much effort into writing and crafting everything, they need to speak for themselves. There’s a real culture of demanding apologies, and I’m opting out of that.”
Hmmm… I’m not sure how to feel about that response.

On one hand, I can see what Tina is saying: she works hard to write a funny show and isn’t going to apologize for every little thing. Yet, on the other hand, I do think that it should be acknowledged that people may have been offended by something. What’s the harm in that? What do you think of Tina’s response?
